Eyes Wide Open

For the first couple of weeks, Aubree hardly had her eyes open so when she did open them, we took pictures. For a really oriental looking girl, she has big eyes! And we realized that she looks different with her cap on and with it off.

1 Week Old!

Aubree Mieko turned a week old on January 29, 2010. A week seemed to go by so quickly. I told Bryce I want her to stay this small forever! He wants her to get big so he can play with her and do stuff like throw her up in the air!

Auntie Mika and Uncle Jarem came over to visit Aubree. Auntie Mika was so happy because she had Aubree all to herself. She didn't have to share! I was happy because I was able to clean and catch up on stuff! Bryce was happy because he played Wii will his brother. It was a really nice day!
That night she was all ready for bed...in her pajamas and swaddled!

Who's Features?

So we know that Aubree looks like a Tano. And it's funny because the first couple of days she just looked super oriental. Actually she still kind of does. I still don't know if I want to call her Aubree or Mieko so I call her both. My nephew calls her Mieko so she's probably going to be like me and have 2 names! We could also call her Nahe or Puuwai...haha so many choices. We figured out that she has 1/2 (50%) Japanese, 1/8 (12.5%) Chinese, 3/16 (18.75%) Hawaiian, 1/8 (12.5%) Filipino, 1/16 (6.25%) Portuguese. So she's a mixture!

We think she has my nose and lips.

  My eyes.

She has my fingers and toes!

Bryce's eyelashes. But it changes everyday!

Aubree's First Outing

January 26, 2010
Aubree had her first doctor's appointment. Her doctor is Dr. Lynn Yanagihara at Straub Kaneohe. She used to be my sister's doctor. Overall the doctor's visit was great! When Aubree was born, she was 7 pounds 4 ounces. At this visit, she was 6 pounds 12 ounces. She lost weight, but the doctor said it was normal. She just to just continue feeding her and she'll gain her weight back.

Since we were in Kaneohe, we went to my mom's house so Aubree could meet Grandma Shirley (my dad's mom) and Auntie Ricky (my dad's sister). Grandma Shirley was super excited to meet her first great granddaughter. She made Aubree some blankets (one of them is in the picture).

Aubree likes to sleep a lot better during the day than at night! Even if we try to wake her up, she doesn't budge!

Aubree's First Sponge Bath

We couldn't give Aubree a 'real' bath because she still had her umbilical cord attached to her. We had to wait until it dried out and fell off before we could submerge her in water. So we gave her a sponge bath. We decided to just do it in the kitchen. She was actually really good about it. She especially loved it when we washed her hair. It was so awkward and funny because Bryce and I had never done this before with a newborn baby! But we'll be experts in no time!

After her bath, we had another photo shoot in her crib!

In the end, this sleeping position wins! This is Bryce's favorite...the swaddle technique.

Coming Home Get Together

We left the hospital around 5:00 PM. Usually they discharge you around 11am cause they need the rooms, but they weren't busy so we didn't rush home! That night we had a full house in our little cozy apartment. Bryce's entire family came over with dinner and my mom, dad and sister too. Then Auntie Jojo and Uncle David called to see how we were and we invited them to come over too. The more the merrier. We had 15 people in our apartment...the most ever! It was a fun night to welcome home our darling daughter.

Uncle Justin finally got to hold the baby!

Auntie Jojo...after she hand sanitized her hands! EVERYONE had to and still has to clean their hands if they want to hold the baby!

This is Auntie Mayumi...Aubree's namesake!

Our apartment looks big!

After everyone left, we took pictures of Aubree in her crib. She got her stuffed bear from Leeah Tano and the other stuffed animal from her Uncle Jared, my brother.

Going Home

It was Sunday and time to go home! One of the items on our list of things to bring was an outfit for Aubree to go home in. My sister, Amethyst, gave us a panda outfit so we decided to use that. For those of you that don't know, I LOVE pandas...hehe! So Aubree may have more panda stuff than the normal baby.

 Our first family picture!

The nurse came in to help us with the car seat. It's a hospital policy that you can't leave with the baby without a car seat and the nurse has to make sure you are putting the baby in correctly. It was actually kind of tricky because she was soooo tiny!

Aubree in the Hospital

We took so many pictures of her in the hospital. And it seemed like she looked different every time. We were just so happy to have her in our lives so we wanted to document everything! She was so tiny, she didn't even feel real. It was like having a china doll as our daughter!
