Born in 2010

She is a 2010 baby! But I just found out that she is not born in the Year of the Tiger. The Year of the Tiger started February 14, 2010. Aubree's birthday is early so she was born in the Year of the Ox. It'll be fun to see what her personality is like as she grows older.

People born in the Year of the Ox are patient, speak little, and inspire confidence in others. They tend, however, to be eccentric, and bigoted, and they anger easily. They have fierce tempers and although they speak little, when they do they are quite eloquent. Ox people are mentally and physically alert. Generally easy-going, they can be remarkably stubborn, and they hate to fail or be opposed. They are most compatible with Snake, Rooster, and Rat people.

One Month Old!!

February 22, 2010
Aubree Mieko turned one month today! I can't believe how fast that came. It seemed like she was just born. We took her to the doctor's today. She is 9 pounds 4 ounces...no wonder she seems so heavy now! Everything was normal. The doctor said she's doing great!

We had time to kill while waiting for the doctor so we took pictures of her in the room. By the time the doctor came, she was kind of fussy...oops!

We tried to take 'posed' pictures for her one month birthday. We definitely had more fun than the baby. It kind of looks like we were trying to teach her how to pray! She's a good sport!

She has a look on her face like get me out of here mom and dad!

She looks bored...

...cause she is!

She was so worn out that as soon as we put her in her car seat, she fell asleep!

We were so excited for her one month birthday that I wanted to buy her a cake. Who knew this would be an adventure! Our initial idea was to get a small round cake from Cold Stone. We got to Cold Stone and the little round cakes are $28!!!! We were so in awe, we just stood there looking at the cakes wondering how this small little ice cream cake could be so expensive. (The funny thing is Aubree can't eat cake!) So finally we decided to just go to Zippy's and get a cake. Oh and it was almost 9 PM so most bakeries and places to get cakes were closed. We went to Zippy's and it was so late that they only had haupia cake left and it was a big round cake. The only small round cake they had was a sugar free chocolate delight cake. It was exactly what we wanted except I told Bryce that it was sugar free so it probably tasted junk! In the end, we got that one because the cake was for Aubree...I had to remember that! We had the lady write words on the cake and we were good.

It was so late already that Aubree was out cold when we got home so we took pictures with her and her cake the next morning. I think the next time we do a cake, she'll be a year old and we'll plan it much better! Plus when she's a year old, it'll be her first time eating cake and ice cream so she'll actually enjoy the cake! By the way, she's not crying, she's singing!!

Cruising

Here's a picture of Aubree just cruising!

Someone gave us this blanket before she was born and then we got this outfit as a present after and realized it was the exact same print. It was so funny...it's like playing 'Where's Aubree?"

This looks uncomfortable to me, but she'll fall asleep in the weirdest positions. She's very picky when it comes to what position she wants to fall asleep in. She'll wiggle and wiggle until we hold her the right way and then in a second (literally) she'll fall asleep!

3 Weeks Old!

Aubree turned 3 weeks on Feb 12.

Auntie Mika came by the apartment to say hi! Aubree was in heaven...someone to hold her while she's sleeping! She's getting older now so we try to put her down now while she's sleeping. She's getting better!!

Baby Mieko and Cousin Jaeden

My nephew, Jaeden, is 2 years old. Jaeden calls her Baby Mieko. He knows her by Aubree, but he's stuck with Meiko! He actually loves to hold the baby. When he holds her, he doesn't want to give her back. We can't even have out hands on the baby otherwise he'll whack our hands away and say 'I'm holding her.' He'll help throw away her diaper and he'll talk really quiet to her. When my mom tries to talk to him about something, he'll look at her and whisper, 'Shh, Baby Mieko is sleeping.' He is expecting a sister in July...I think he'll be a great older brother!

Baby Mieko was almost 3 weeks.

This was this past Monday so Baby Mieko was 1 month 2 weeks old.

Look at their feet. We have a one month old foot and a 2 year old foot! It'll be crazy when Aubree is 2 years old...can't she stay this small forever?!?

Movement

We got a bouncer! She actually really likes being in it. It's one of those that has a vibration option on it. It's funny because she can be in a deep deep sleep and as soon as the vibration turns off, she gets up. Personally I think that with the combination of the bouncing I would get a headache.

Sometimes we'll be lying on the couch half sleeping because we're so tired and we'll have one hand bouncing the bouncer

As you can see she's so comfortable that even when we have photo shoots, she doesn't wake up! This is a panda doll that my cousin Lillie Sakai sent to her. Aubree has a lot of cute panda stuff because I love pandas! Hehe! My Auntie Kim also sent along a red dress that she knitted.

My mom got a swing for her house. This was definitely worth buying. She loves it! Aubree just loves being in movement. It doesn't really matter what position you hold her in as long as she's moving. She actually is getting a lot better about just falling asleep without us walking around. And by a lot better, I mean once a week she does that!!

My nephew likes the swing too. We had to tell him it was for the baby otherwise he would jump right in. He likes to push the swing when Aubree is inside to try and calm her down. Lucky for us, it's automatic...no pushing required! 'He's trying to take a picture of Aubree in her new swing!'

First Bath

February 9, 2010
We've been giving Aubree a sponge bath since we brought her home from the doctor's because her umbilical cord stump was still connected to her. It was kind of interesting because it looks like it was sore, but the doctor said it didn't hurt her at all. We just had to put rubbing alcohol every time we changed her diaper. Last week, it finally came off. Bryce was changing her and yelled 'it came off'! At first it looked like she was going to have an 'outie' belly button, but eventually her stump went down and she has a 'innie'. We didn't really know what to do with it. We were wondering if people save it and put it in their Book of Remembrance or if they just throw it away. We didn't want to throw it away so we just put it in a ziploc bag. Haha, who knows. And come to think of it, I have no idea where it is now!

So now that her stump came off, we were able to give her a real bath and immerse her in water. It was kind of scary, but we had the baby tub and it came with the newborn attachment. She actually really liked the bath. She just laid in the tub and looked content and cute! It's funny because for such a small child, it takes 2 adults to give her a bath!

2 Weeks Old

Aubree was 2 weeks old on Feb 5 and it's March 9 so I'm still trying to play catch up! We dressed her up in the morning to take her 2 week old picture, but she was not into the photo shoot. She just kept on whimpering every time we left her on the couch.

So we decided to let her have her way and we took more pictures at night.

We had her 2 week doctor appointment today. Everything went well. She weighed 7 pounds 12 ounces. This was good news because she lost weight after she was born.

She was a lot more cooperative with the photo shoot at night. Aubree was super lucky because she got a ton of baby girl clothes from Laurie Horita and Laura Burgess. They are from Bryce's home ward. Actually Laurie and I are classmates from Kamehameha. We're lucky they have such good taste because now Aubree has a stylish outfit everyday!

Here are some pics we took of her a couple of days later. Although purple in my favorite color, we've been dressing her up in lots of pink! I think we have photo shoots with  her everyday!

Life with Aubree!

Bryce is so good with our daughter. He doesn't mind staying up at night with her and he especially doesn't mind changing her diaper. I love that! He also doesn't mind having fun with her and making trouble to her! I know he can't wait until she's big enough so he can throw her in the air.

This is her favorite sleeping position...well I should say location. She will sleep for hours especially if it's on someone. I think she just loves the body heat and she feels safe. Luckily for us, she's slowly learning how to sleep in her crib for longer periods of time!

She must have great dreams because she's always smiling in her sleep.

Usually she'll crash once she's in her car seat. We haven't had to take midnight car rides yet...knock on wood!
